PGDM(RM) - Post Graudation Diploma in Management in Retail Management
Programme Highlights

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Retail Management) is specially designed for individuals wishing to pursue a career in the exponentially growing Indian retail Industry. The course aims at providing stimulating and rigorous studies in retailing management with a blend of strong industry interaction in order to contribute to the future supply of professionally qualified and trained retail managers.

Salient Features of PGDM (RM)
  1. Total intake in PGDM Programme is 180 students.
  2. Course starting with Orientation Programme. The First year is devoted to the course on various management subjects as well as foundation courses on Marketing and Retail Management.
  3. Second year shall expose students to pivotal courses like Marketing Research, Franchise Operation, Retail Branding CRM, Retail Strategy, E-tailing etc, as well as a Dissertation.
  4. Regular industry & academia interface through guest lectures, seminars, stores and location visits etc.

Eligibility Criteria

A Graduate (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University. Candidates appearing in their final year of graduation may also apply.

Selection Procedure

The Curriculum of the PGDM (RETAIL MANAGEMEMT) is an outcome of an elaborate and thorough review with captains of industry and distinguished academicians and is influenced by the experience of the other premier institutes and universities in the country and abroad. The course curriculum is spread over four semesters in a period of 2 Years. The course outline will be made available to the students, well before the start of the course. The course offered to the students may be a full credit course, half credit course or a value added course. The Institute uses the concept of credit to define the weightage of a course in the curriculum. Courses are listed as one or half credit course depending on the enlisted workload for each course. The generally accepted norm is that a Full (one) credit involves about 40-45 hours of class work and a half credit course involves about 20-25 hours of class work.

Every course outline provided to students will cover the following:
  1. Objective of the course..
  2. Pedagogy to be adopted.
  3. Session wise details of topics, required readings, additional readings and assignments.
  4. Scheme of evaluation and weightages.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME:

Before the commencement of regular first year classes all students will undergo a compulsory orientation programme. Since the students joining the course are from different educational streams like, Engineering, Science, Commerce, Arts etc. so bridge courses will be imparted to bring them to a common knowledge base, which is a prerequisite of the course. The orientation programme would also ensure proper understanding of self, fellow students, group dynamics, communication skills and development of leadership qualities through interactive process.

Second Year

The second year is also divided into two semesters. Each semester will have six compulsory courses and one industry based Dissertation in the last semester build upon the knowledge created in the first three semester. These courses are the pivotal courses of the programme and will include Marketing Research, Franchise Operations, Retail Branding, CRM, Category Management, Store Layout, E-tailing, Corporate Ethics, Retail Strategy etc. Faculty members/dissertation team will assign area/topic for the dissertation project. The evaluation of the project will be done by one external examiner and one internal examiner. The dissertation paper will be of 2 credits and students have to follow the norms laid down by the dissertation team while making their project reports. The detailed valuation rules will be provided separately.

INDUSTRY TRAINING AND FINAL PLACEMENTS

I.T.S - Ghaziabad will inculcate values and culture, which have been developed over the years. These will be manifested in the form of PGDM (RETAIL MANAGEMEMT) Industry Training & Placement. It is necessary for every student to understand, appreciate and uphold these values and promotes the I.T.S Group placement culture. Placement in Institute will be an integral part of the course curriculum. Institute will provide facilities to the students to perform the placement related work. Placement activities will largely be student driven and will be managed by them. A duly constituted Placement Cell having excellent facilities will operate separately in the Institute. Faculty, Business Development officer and students will man this Cell. Placement Committee will play a vital role in the industry interaction, campus visits and all other Industry training and final placement related tasks. The selection of student placement committee will be based on multiple but objective criteria set by the Institute. Student members will be expected to visit, establish and strengthen ties with the companies in various industrial segments under the guidance of Faculty and BDO. The Student Committee under the guidance of Faculty and BDO will plan, organize and arrange Pre Placement Talks (PPTs) and Campus Interviews for PGDM (RETAIL MANAGEMEMT) Fourth semester students. Every PGDM (RETAIL MANAGEMEMT) student will be assigned different tasks relating to facilitation of Industry Training and Final Placement Activities and it will be expected that all the students would actively contribute in the above activities.
